At the heart of it all was 72-year-old Gerry Turner, who stepped into the spotlight as the Bachelor franchise’s first-ever senior leading man.

His search for love resonated with viewers, culminating in a finale that drew an impressive 6.1 million US viewers – the biggest Bachelor audience since 2021.

Gerry ended the season by choosing 70-year-old Theresa Nist, and the buzz didn’t stop there.

Their romance continued with The Golden Wedding: a televised special that gave fans a front-row seat to their vows.

Due to its success, ABC (American Broadcasting Company) has since produced The Golden Bachelorette, for which 61-year-old Joan Vassos – one of Gerry’s former contestants – took the lead.

The network also green-lit a second season of The Golden Bachelor; set to premiere in September 2025, with Mel Owens stepping into the titular role.

How much do you get paid to be on The Golden Bachelor?

Channel 9 has not disclosed how much Bear is getting paid.
