We get it. Casting actors to look like four of the most famous men in the world is not an easy feat, but we have to be real – a lot of casting in The Beatles-inspired biopics has been questionable at best.
When the news dropped that director Sam Mendes would be tackling not one, but four, films inspired by each of The Beatles, fans of the Fab Four quickly took to social media to throw around ideas for who would *actually* be a match to portray either John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, or Ringo Starr.
After what feels like a small eternity, we finally have confirmation on who will be embodying the group, so keep scrolling for everything you need to know.

Who has been cast in The Beatles biopics?
Over a year after the films were first announced, the cast of Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles biopic films was revealed, with Harris Dickinson, Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn, and Barry Keoghan making their first appearance as John, Paul, George, and Ringo at CinemaCon 2025.
While the news of Harris and Joseph’s appointment to the project came as a surprise to fans, thanks to Sir Richard Starkey himself, we already knew that Irish king Barry Keoghan would be heading across the Mersey to Liverpool to take on his latest role as Ringo Starr.
“I think it’s great. I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many,” Ringo told Entertainment Tonight.
With Barry locked in, a few weeks later, Gladiator II director Ridley Scott let slip that Paul Mescal had signed on for one of the upcoming biopics.
Discussing the leading man’s next project in conversation with Christopher Nolan, Ridley shared, “Paul is actually stacked up, doing The Beatles next.”
As for the rest of the cast, names have continued to be thrown around across social media, however, it has been widely reported that the current frontrunners for the rest of the band are Harris Dickinson as John Lennon and Charlie Rowe as George Harrison.

When are The Beatles biopics coming out?
Counting down the days until more Beatle-related content? Unfortunately, we’re going to have to wait a fair while longer, with Sony Pictures confirming in March 2025 that the film’s had been pushed back to 2028.
Despite the lengthy pre-production time, the four-film series is bound to be worth the wait, with director Sam Mendes having been granted the full music and story rights for the stories of John, Paul, George, and Ringo’s lives.
“I’m honoured to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies,” Sam wrote in a statement.
Speaking further on the film at CinemaCon, Sam shared, “We need big cinematic events to get people out of the house.. It’s a chance to understand them more deeply.”
