Three people have died and 20 people have been injured after a vehicle ploughed into pedestrians in Melbourne’s Bourke Street Mall at around 2PM.
In a statement, Victoria Police confirmed a man has been arrested and the attack was related to an earlier stabbing in the city.
It was not a counter terrorism-related incident and there is no ongoing threat, said a police spokesperson.

Before the tragedy, the car was seen driving recklessly near Flinders Street Station, before the maroon vehicle drove down Bourke Street, with police reportedly in pursuit.
“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined, and we will provide further information when it comes to hand,” said Victoria Police in a statement. “Police request that people avoid the area.”
Onlookers have since taken to Twitter to share footage from the horrific scene.
