Is there going to be a Practical Magic 2 movie?
Yes! Warner Bros. announced that a Practical Magic sequel was in the works on June 10, 2025.
Days later, on June 13, 2025, Nicole Kidman confirmed that she and Sandra Bullock would reprise their roles from the first film: sisters (and witches) Gillian and Sally Owens.
Will Practical Magic 2 be released in theaters in September 2026?
Yes, Practical Magic 2 will be released in Australian cinemas on September 17, 2026.

Will Practical Magic 2 have the same cast?
As aforementioned, both Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock will reprise their roles from the first film (yay).
Joey King, Xolo Maridueña, Maisie Williams, Lee Pace, and Solly McLeod have been confirmed as cast members for Practical Magic 2 – all of whom were not in the first film.
At this stage, it’s not yet been confirmed whether Aidan Quinn – who played Investigator Gary Hallet – will reprise his role.
Is Stockard Channing coming back for Practical Magic 2?
However, like Nicole and Sandra, Stockard Channing AND Dianne Wiest will come back for the sequel.
Stockard played Frances Owens and Dianne played Bridget ‘Jet’ Owens – Gillian and Sally’s witchy aunts – in the first film.
What is the plot for Practical Magic 2?
The original film was based on the book of the same name by Alice Hoffman, and both follow Gillian and Sally as they deal with their family curse – any man an Owens woman falls in love with is doomed to die.
Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the screenplay for the first Practical Magic, has written the screenplay for the sequel – and he’s confirmed it was inspired by the Alice Hoffman book The Book of Magic.
In the book, which is a sequel to the first book, Sally and Gillian try to save the man Sally’s now grown up daughter loves from the Owens curse.
