If you’ve been missing the drama, games, and real-time evictions of early 2000s seasons of Big Brother, then we have some good news for you!
After four years of airing on Seven, Big Brother Australia will not only make its return to Ten in November 2025 but will also revert to its original live format.
Announcing the news in September 2024, Paramount confirmed that the series will be back bigger and better than ever, with Senior Vice President of Content and Programming Daniel Monaghan revealing that the latest iteration of Big Brother Australia will feature “24-hour live streaming, live nominations, and live evictions” – allowing audiences to experience “the drama as it all unfolds in real-time.”

Who is the host of Big Brother Australia 2025?
While the list of everyday Aussie housemates has yet to be revealed, the network has announced that The Cheap Seats star Mel Tracina will be taking over from Sonia Kruger as host for the revamped season of Big Brother Australia.
“I was one of the millions of Aussies captivated by Big Brother when it launched on Channel 10 in the early noughties,” Mel shared in a statement. “The show has such a loyal and passionate fan base, and I am excited to help bring back the show’s original spirit (minus the flip phones and bum dancing).”
Will Big Brother Australia 2025 return to its old format?
Although many specifics surrounding the season have still been kept under wraps, Mel revealed to Daily Mail Australia that the show would be bringing in a brand new twist – 24/7 live streaming.
“What’s so good about this is the live stream element, so you don’t have to worry about getting a bad edit or being seen as the ‘season villain,’ because viewers can log in at any time and see what the [housemates] are up to.”
“I think the 24/7 element changes the show,” former Big Brother Australia winner Benjamin Norris told Yahoo! Lifestyle, adding, “I agree with Mel Tracina that this will change the way Australia will view each and every housemate, as no one will be able to complain about their edit. How refreshing.”

Where will Big Brother Australia be filmed?
This is big news for longtime fans, as the show will return to Dreamworld on the Gold Coast.
News of the series’ return comes nine months after TV Blackbox reported that Big Brother Australia had been axed from Seven for 2024.
Despite garnering a loyal fan following in the early 2000s, the 2023 iteration of the reality series underwent a ‘House of Love’ transformation which turned focus less on the games and typical Big Brother shenanigans and more on the dating show aspect of the contestants’ time in the house.
While some fans took to the rebrand, the new series was overall poorly received and bumped from the primetime slot after one week on air, with the season finale seeing only 152,000 viewers nationwide.
When is Big Brother Australia returning?
While an exact date has yet to be confirmed, Channel 10 has announced that it is scheduled for this November.
